Create your own customized Metis sash using traditional hand-looming techniques for the Arrow Pattern. Everyone is welcome to this beginner-level workshop! Your own loom, tools and supplies for the first project are shipped via Canada Post. Everyone is welcome to this beginner-level workshop that features access to the video lessons for 1 year, as well as 2 Zoom meetings/Q&A sessions with Michif Weaver Kalyn Kodiak.
Begin with the basics and move to advanced knowledge of the traditional art of sash weaving. This technique is used to design beautiful bands, belts, sashes and bags. All patterns are learned at your own pace via instructional videos, with history & protocol teachings included.
‘Silverberries’ of the Wolf Willow bush are used to make beautiful natural rosaries by the Metis people. Supplies are included to create your own rosary or necklace at home. Instructional videos guide you through the many food, medicine and cultural uses of this beautiful Canadian Prairie plant.
