Herbal Student Practicum Begins Sept. 24th

Practicum Meeting for All Students
Monday Sept. 24th 7pm
Herbal Healing Inc., Bay G 2410 – 2nd Ave SE Calgary

Students and prospective students/apprentices are invited to attend a brief meeting at 7pm on Monday, September 24th to go over some details of the CHSC (Calgary Herbal Student Clinic) practicum program. During the meeting we will decide, together, which dates we will get together for practicum, and also which topics/instructors will be featured.
This meeting is a great place to ask questions about practicum/student clinic, not only from the instructors but also to get feedback from other students who attended the year before.  Please come out and help us optimize the program so everyone can take part this year.

Loom-weaving Your Metis Sash

Be a part of the first hand-looming sash class ever in Calgary! Looms and all materials are provided. Everyone will create their own sash to wear.

Beading Remembrance Poppies

Make a poppy or other flower to wear, to honour a loved one or just for fun.

Metis Finger-weaving Workshops

Begin with the basics or advance your knowledge of the traditional art of sash weaving, while making your own bracelet or hatband. All experience levels are welcome.

Traditions of the Wolf Willow Rosary

Silverberries are traditionally used to make beautiful natural rosaries by the Metis people. Make your own rosary while learning about the food and medicine benefits of this plant.

Medicine of the Bear Spirit

Wed, Dec. 4th 6-9pm

Bears are sacred animals, cousins of humans and teachers of healing. Learn how bear medicine is used, spiritually, emotionally and physically, and engage in a Bear Meditation to ask the Bear Spirit to guide you.

Personal Medicine Bag Workshops

Fri, Dec. 13th 6:30-9:00pm
Learn about traditions of personal medicine pouch as a protective and creative force, and make your own bag to honour and keep your medicine.

Balsam Harvest & Medicine Festival

Sundays in February/March (Date TBA in Dec 2019)

Learn all about Nature’s medicine chest, the Balsam Poplar! Poplar is the Man’s Best Friend of trees. We will brew tree medicine outdoors, and fry some tasty traditional bannock to enjoy with our tea.

Adventures in the Woods Wild Picnic & Plantwalk

A picnic and plantwalk through the soft spring meadows of Kananaskis country! Picnic lunch is included.

Blossoms of Early Summer Picnic & Plantwalk

Saturday in June 2020   11am – 3pm (Date TBA)
Return to the mountains to view the flowering plants in all their Glory! Meadows, Prairies and forest landscapes and a gourmet lunch in the wild.

Energetic Practitioner’s Study Group Program: First Meeting January 30, 2015

props closeupAttend the First meeting of the Energetic Practitioners to provide input into how the group will be run, including how often it is to be held and on what days, which modalities and instructors we will learn from, and to find out other administrative details such as the cost of the program and payment plans.

Please come to Ray of Light (address below) on January 30th, 2014 to attend the 1-hour meeting. We will begin exactly at 6:05pm.

6:00-7:00pm, January 30th 2015: Administrative Meeting

Agenda:

  • Introductions, discuss layout for modalities and clinical practice nights, confidentiality agreement
  • Choosing modalities to focus on for the rest of the year (Iridology + 2 others), as well as modalities for next year. Suggestions for instructors and modalities will be accepted for review. Students who wish to instruct a segment should attend this meeting to present the idea to the group.
  • Discussing cost (which changes depending on instructors) and payment schedule
  • Discuss meeting 4x monthly instead of 2x monthly
  • Volunteer clients for Clinical Practice nights
