Wolf Willow: Rosaries and Medicine
Prepare wild-harvested wolf willow berries and use them to make jewelry, medicine and Metis silverberry fudge. Learn about the many food and medicine benefits of this beautiful prairie plant.
Silverberries or wolf-willow berries are traditionally gathered to make beautiful natural rosaries by the Metis people.
These mealy, sparkly berries can be used to bead clothing or make jewelry and regalia. We can even make a traditional dessert from the silverberry bush – a delicious & unique confection known as ‘Metis ice cream’.
Learning to clean and pierce the beads from a Metis herbalist, make your own rosary, prayer beads or necklace to wear with pride.
